Dream It. Believe It. Build It.

Imagine it’s 2:30 AM, and you hear a knock on your door. You open it to find a mom holding her dying child, begging you to help them… but you turn her away because you physically don’t have room for them in your home. Unfortunately, this is the current reality at the Love One Center– but thankfully, it won’t be a problem for much longer.

Over the last four years, God has provided excellent rental options to house and heal the children we serve. While we are thankful for these properties, we’ve been praying for a place to call our own…a place where we can put down roots that will allow Love One’s mission to continue transforming young lives in the name of Jesus for hundreds of years to come.

We are happy to announce that we now own over 2 acres in the heart of Gulu City. The planning phase to build precisely what is needed for every stage of healing and growth in the children we serve is underway.

The current Love One Center can hold 45 children at one time.  Fortunately, our outreach into homes in surrounding communities allows us to serve over 100 children. The new center will accommodate 100 children with additional space for nursing mothers and caretakers who need a place to stay while their children are at the Love One Center. We dream that the new Love One Center will be an oasis of healing for all who are served with an abundance of open spaces, natural light, and tranquility.

Not only will the children and families we serve reap the benefits of the new facility there will be an array of new and upgraded spaces for Love One staff.  These spaces include a dedicated in-take area, medical exam rooms, kitchens, administrative offices, security control, and much more.

Our leadership team is working with a local consultant to gather quotes from architectural firms in Gulu. From there, we will narrow it down to the right team to help us turn our dream into a reality.  Our first step in the building project is a retaining wall around the property’s perimeter.  For most properties in Uganda, a retaining wall is a standard element that marks property lines and provides an essential layer of security.  As you can imagine, Love One feels tremendous responsibility for the young lives we will be nurturing back to health within the walls of The Center.

We cannot overstate our excitement for the new Love One Center.  The possibility of expanding the care and love we give the children, families, and communities we serve is precisely what we are called to do.

Our dreams for the Love One Center are only possible because of your partnership and support in the ministry.  We are GRATEFUL!

BUILDING BRIEFS

As Love One continues down the path of building our campus, we will keep you up-to-date on our progress.  Look for our “Building Briefs” in future communications.

Many critically ill children in Uganda don’t have easy access to medical care, so Love One ensures they receive the emergency healthcare and rehabilitative services they need. When children are restored to health, they return home to grateful families and joyful communities.
